UPS anticipates a twenty percent growth in its business due to the increased demand for freight from e-commerce businesses. Through its subsidiary, UPS Express Network Solutions (ENNS), the world's largest freight carrier, is planning much of the approach. The company intends to grow by adding more new freight distribution lines. UPS Chief Operating Officer Richard Perera told Reuters that "it's going to be a combination of new routes and connecting new forwarding locations" in reference to the traffic that travels via UPS's network.

Of these, 148.7 million were carried by containers (96.2% of global container movement), 121.7 million by dry bulk ships (7.7%), and 9.2 million by other commercial transport vessels.

International freight shipment numbers have increased for the third month in a row in September. According to the IMO, this was only the second time in nearly 15 years that monthly data had turned positive. The other time was in February of 2014.

The members of the Freight Management Association of Canada (FMA) revealed a global network on Monday in the hopes that it will drive down costs and raise service levels on the nation's roads and railroads.
The network, which has 15 members from other nations, will serve as a freight broker for cargo coming into or departing from Canada.
The organisation, which has strong ties to Australia, is also thinking about putting policies into place that would let carriers apply for C-Train carrier cards and allow drivers to accumulate international freight pilot-packs.
